EDAVAKA MISSION

Matthew 28:19 So, wherever you go, make Therefore go and make disciples of all nations,

"Every Marthomite is a voluntary evangelist" . This was the message of late Abraham Marthoma Metropolitan.

The Mar Thoma Voluntary Evangelistic Association founded in 1924, is one of the official organizations of the Mar Thoma Church. The Most Rev. Dr. Abraham Mar Thoma was instrumental in the formation of the Association. The primary objective of this organization is to lead every member of the Church to a spirit-filled and witnessing Christian life, whatever his occupation may be. In other words every member of the Church should be a missionary filled with such joy and assurance of salvation as to be Christ's witness to those who come into contact with him, irrespective of one's profession in secular life. In this way the church should give the leadership for the evangelism of India. To achieve its purpose, the organization inculcates in each member that he or she is specially called to fulfill the royal command of Jesus Christ making all nations disciples, teaching them to observe all things whatsoever Jesus commanded.

At the parish level, the Voluntary Evangelistic Association is known as the Edavaka Mission.

Members of the Edavaka Mission meet regularly for Bible Study, fellowship, and prayer every 1st and 3rd Thursday at 7:30pm at the Salmiya Parsonage under the leadership of the vicar.
